I think it's human nature that when "$hit hit's the fan" we want to ask "how/why/where?" and yup --- $hit really did hit the fan - literally...

Saw this in the news today.....

Russian fighter pilots involved in an incident with a U.S. drone that resulted in its crash will be given state awards, the Defense Ministry announced Friday.

Wholeheartedly agree. And, as it happened before in other places, we made and continue making the monster stronger.

And coming back to the subject on the thread, I don't understand why clearly intentional showering the drone with jet fuel is not considered to be a sign of aggression while physical direct strike is. Same old rubbery "red lines". I don't know if the Russian jet hit the drone or the drone tried to get into the jet's path (either intentionally as a retaliation or by vortex acting upon it). Nevertheless, the jet fuel shower preceding the accident and a steam of stupid "explanations" coming from the Russian officials are sufficient for me to blame Kremlin.

P.S. I've been glad to see today's headlines re: the arrest order for the Russian macho. I'm not sure they'll ever have a chance to arrest him, but nevertheless...
Personally, I wish him to end his life the same way Gaddafi did. He fully deserves it. Wishful thinking, I know...

I think proof is stretch, but I agree an accident is logical. It would seem an exceptionally risking thing to make flying a fighter jet a contact sport. otoh, you're not in Kansas anymore.....things are different there. People goes missing, get imprisoned or murdered for offending the powers that be.....who knows what desperation the pilot might have felt if told, say, take that drone out without firing or don't come home. We're all speculating, but it is well within possibility.

All they can do is to provoke everyone to establish how far they can go. And if you don't hit them in the face right away,
It think its more he than them, but we are not talking about the bully two blocks over. With a nuclear arsenal, it doesn't matter how much of a tyrant he is, fully deserving a smack upside of the head, doing so could be very dangerous. Nor does it much matter who would 'win' a nuclear war. The smarter people in the room are charged with the task of defending a principle and an invaded sovereign country and also not escalating things. Not an easy balance. Megalomaniacs tend to become very irrational and do astounding stupid things we they lose or are painted into a corner. Someone has to either get rid of him (and face something worse coming into the vacuum) or give his pride and ego an escape hatch.

                      .
No doubt it could be "underlayered" like that - in fact even "dump some fuel to make it look like that was the prime directive and then sweep the knee" but multiple passes? ehhh - but i hear ya....

as to your other statement to I believe was Michael, patch work is what got us here to this degree and yeah probably can do more and more of it while the beast grows but sooner or later the bluff will have to be called, if it's not then your as good as a manipulated puppet that's going to get gutted anyways...

I think we have the Russians covered in a conventional war.

I heard some jets flying overhead today, a lil higher than normal. So I went upstairs to get a look-see and saw a smoke trail off towards the Air Station. Couldn't tell which way it was pointing. Then a jet pops up off the horizon, blowing smoke, completely vertical and hauling butt. Keeps rising to what I would guess to be 7000 or so feet then does a sharp turn and heads back down. The scary looking part was the speed looked to be about the same speed down, straight down as it was going up. Then out of view. Its an odd thing to see in person.

Grab my cell and type in air show for the base and sure enough, the Blue Angles are in town this weekend. Scary looking stuff, I have never been to an airshow. JR

Found an interesting interview with a military expert regarding this incident. It's written in Russian, but you can just paste the link into Google Translate and read it in English: https://www.currenttime.tv/a/usa-dro.../32319290.html
