Wow, I read the Terms and Rules, and you need a legal team to understand them.
Personally, I would not waste my time with them.

Apparently, they're based in Panama. Is that usual?

Way way back when that BB started by a guy in, I think Pa, it was pretty good. but it got too big or he decided to sell it for the financial gain. and it has gone steadily down hill. I saw something a while back that I thought maybe it had "turned over a new leaf" and tried to re join but it's so screwed up I give up. :-)

There was a forum started by Nelson or Airsmith282 or 3phaselightbulb or some such character.
It was a hobby machinist forum and he would ban you for farting while typing a post.

I logged ONE single post on pirate4x4 before I was banned.
I posted a link to a video about a rock crawler that used hydraulic motors,
one on each of the 4 wheels. It was cool. It solved the suspension articulation
and drive shafts binding up issues, so common with Jeeps and Scouts and whatever.
Instant ban. I guess the crawler I posted the video, worked so well, it was pissing off
the "establishment" who lived and died by posting fixes for suspension and driveline
angles and the whole thing. I guess the hydraulic crawler worked so well, and many
others had posted videos of it, the moderators just dictatorially and systematically
banned anyone who posted anything about crawlers with hydraulic wheel motors.
How did I know? Engineer tend to go with what works. Who knew the frustration of
driveshafts and dangle angles and the frustration that all brings was something a
cult was built on. I guess idiots like to suffer together.
It was like I posted about a CNC machine in a blacksmithing forum. What ever.
          Tread cautiously.

There is an HO scale Facebook modeling group where the moderators play favorites, lay down the law on some but not others, and it is widely known. When anyone attempts to create their own group the moderators report that group to Facebook. When ever some one else mentions another group, they get banned.
The bottom line is that the world is filled with assholes who want to be the dictator or king, and they don't stop searching until they find their castle, either it be a chief pilot position, a group moderator, a live steam club, model railroad club, a BBS, etc. The worst of the worst are nerds on a power trip.

For sure. Just ask for help on a programming or electronics forum. Its like every nerd on the planet is tripping over themselves to to address the pent up need of their egos. Low EQ sorts abound.

That forum was once upon a time quite good. Then there was a blow up, no idea over what, and a good portion of the membership left and start "Model Engine Maker". That site is imo very good; it has a very friendly and gentlemanly culture...people are polite and respectful.

Close to same time, maybe related, HMEM sold to some commercial group that runs forums. Didn't know there was such a thing. Many were bitter about that (which imo is BS, why shouldn't the guy who started 1) be able to back away and 2) get a little cash for all his efforts). However the body in charge was a prepper or whatever they call themselves and knew nothing about machining/engines. The bitterness (unfounded imo) and a moderator without a clue chased me away. Don't miss it given there is MEM.

Was the show for model engine builders ?
If it was for something else, maybe that is why.
Staying ON the subject is paramount to many Moderators
Lots of forums do not allow "OT" postings like we have here
Also any form of profanity is a general cause for disbarment
You need to ask yourself these questions

                Rich

PS , this should have had a "OT" posting as well ---following the rules

If you want to post at a site where the moderator has a stick up his ass, try Chaski machinist.

I used to be a moderator over there, but by no means could I actually moderate, it was a one man show, you know who.

We should be thankful that George has lots of common sense and allows a reasonable ammount of arguement before clamping down.

Out of curiousity I just tried registering for Home Model Engine Machinist forum, but seemed to fail at the stage where I had to prove that I was human-----

Can you prove to this forum that you are human? Maybe it doesn't matter since you seem able to post in stereo.
