As for almost dragging the license plate that's pretty common. And yes, a little rear brake timed just right avoids the bike going over. I never did do stunts but I hung around at a track where the motard guys commonly did this sort of thing since they were also stunters. It's not as "out there" as you might think.

And yes to the big flywheel and a power lunge. Often the a dose of front brake to plunge the forks THEN the clutch comes out so the fork springs aid the initial lift. I went off road racing with a ratty old Honda 600F2. But never did have the guts to wheelie my street bike....
Im just going to call it "inconclusive" The vid looks "doctored" to me, even if that stepped seat was made of concrete (along with the guys ass - ehh highly doubtful lol) and is the reason it does not compress any when the angle changed he still has to hold up his upper toad body at the 90 degree mark and it looks like his arms are not doing anything in change of position or tensioning up...

It just looks strange to me - maybe its just seeing a fat man actually getting something done lol that stunt harley rider is a total jock so although his tricks are at an incredible level the shoe does fit...

This was on the news awhile back, perhaps the things we need to start watching for are "glitch free totally believable performances"

Doing wheelies on a MC is easy, even on a big decked out HD bagger, it's only synchronizing clutch and throttle technique to get you started. Got that BS out of my system well over 50 years ago. Time to move on and grow up.

Cut the guy some slack though. With his pseudo wanna-be bad ass biker Nazi helmet on, the front wheel is about all he's gonna get up!

You want to see some real riding talent on a HD have a look at the clip below. He'd be scary fast on a more capable bike.

He was really the craziest Harley Rider ever, what he is doing is and how he drives is incredible. He was a real racer on his Harley-Davidson. Repost ViralHog

He was throwing that pig down that's for sure, almost lost it too and it's the same kinda terrain where I used to dice it meaning you go off you die...

but look how easy the guy behind him made it look to be able to hang with him, sounded like he was babying his engine...

years ago me and two other brothers were dicing it up in the mountain roads, the oldest bro had a semi-moded honda 750-4, me and the other brother had 600cc crotchrockets of different brands,
We were dicing it back and forth when the oldest of us throws down the gauntlet and takes the lead, were trying to hang but it's like he found another gear,,, then right in front of us his bikes ass end starts snaking around the turn -- it was very scary to watch but he saved it --- then me and the other bro look at each other and even with full face helmets and total shielding no words had to be said ---- it was back off the throttle time and let him know he was the king lol It would be god awful horrible to watch a bro die on the side of the road like that , we still tease him about it like when something gets competitive were like "no worries - you got this, it's all you - your the king dude" lol

Heavy machine for that, I got onto the back wheel once with a hondacx500 ( the shaft drive one) it did damage, later I had to fix the front, I think it got broke.
I did not intend the event, I blame street hardware and stupidity myself.
im not a great motorcycle rider so I take my time, leisurely is my style!
a hyabusa passed me at 100++ yesterday, bloody lunatic on a country road, some of it was on his back wheel, in his defence he had full leathers to keep his guts in when he hits an immovable object

Finally a classic and definitive video clip showing proper technique on how easily this can be accomplished. Thank you!
Much more fluid and graceful than Pongo's attempt in the OP's video.

I think we all need to watch this clip repeatedly until this technique is totally understood. I've watched it only about 15 times and I know that I'll likely have to watch a few more times more before I can say that I'm comfortable with what's going on here.

I had noticed on that first video (the fat guy) that the front wheel was not turning. That had struck me as odd after the authenticity of the clip was questioned. Now on this second clip with the young female, the wheel can be seen to continue rotating after it's suspended in the air.
Now of course in the first instance the front brake could've been applied to stop the rotation; but why would he?

Lynnl, you'll notice that in the clip of the young lady doing the wheelie that near the end the wheel has stopped turning. Watch it a few more times.
All it takes is a bit of drag on the disc to slow the wheel down, and there will always be some drag, it's only a matter of time before the wheel stops.
Each bike will of course differ slightly.

Don't forget about the wagon wheel effect.
