Look again. We now have at least seven choices, each with a different face.

      George,

The LIKE button is there. I just gave your post a LIKE. And the smiley face next to it brings up at least seven choices, each with a different face.

The forum is hosted on a vBulletin server and is a subscription-based plan. Updates, patches, and other work is rolled out all the time, as needed. The changes you are seeing are a result of them updating things to the latest version. As you may know, software updates always include some bad with the good.

While this is not a group that is big on change, the little changes that pop up now and then are a small price to pay for a forum that is stable and relatively spam free.

There are no changes to the ad display, and none are planned. That aspect is the same as it ever was. I'm not seeing any format changes on my end so can't comment on that. I do see the lack of the like button, which didn't get much use anyway.

Actually, I like the new look. Cleaner and easier for me to read.

But! Big bonus…..you can do kissy face emoji on Doozer’s posts.
Is the face the only anatomy option, or do we have other choices? Seems like there should be other options for his posts.

I'm responsible? Whatever gave you that idea?

At one time you could make a choice for the order of the posts on your computer/phone. I looked and that does not seem to be present in this version of the BB software.

I once tried to make a suggestion to vBulletin. To borrow from the computer field, the only thing that I can compare them to is a WOM (Write Only Memory). Nothing but crickets in response and my suggestion was never implemented in any of their subsequent revisions of the BB software. That was around 15 or more years ago and perhaps they have changed. Perhaps you would like to try. Here is their web site:

            Good luck!

It changes my screen layout. In order to see the full screen I have to
make my font smaller. For my 76 year old eyes. Would prefer the past
              version.

I didn't even realize there was a like button previously. That's what comments are for?

I think this is key George. Sometimes we forget this is a free service that is costing someone some money. Has been a spam free site for 20+ years now. I dont think there are any other sites like that.

And we all know, any new software pak is going to have some "new and improved" goodies included.

Personally, I think it can become a distraction. The option to show someone a simile face here has always been around Thumbs up, thumbs down, I don't notice it. I read text.

                  Love the site George.. JR

Haha, I like it. The juxtaposition of the sophisticated gentleman sipping his martini and some dude hitting an old fashion Bong. I love it. The Bong .. I dont think folks use bongs anymore but thats not the point. The old fashion bong, like a tail pipe on a car. fuggin nasty.

And no. It is not a Bong with bong water these days.

It might be more like some really good smoke and really good Scotch. Pretty much covers what I like. JR

In my case, it became exactly the opposite. I'm not sure it will help you, but my settings for 27" monitor are:
                        Resolution- 1920x1080
                        Text size- 150%

                          Paul,

How are you somehow the only person that posts like this? Do you not find it jarring? Perhaps we should all take it up.

Nay, it doesn't matter. In the past, someone just posted a reply disagreeing (like I am doing now), which was subsequently "liked". That served as a dislike counter. This just saves a step!

EDIT: Oh, wait ... the thumbs-down is definitely a big deal. We do NOT want that. This should be a friendly place & thumbs down is not a friendly response.

Didn't notice the likes thing before. Bit worried about people not wanting both options, like and dislike as down that road dictators live.
Rather than dislike I might prefer something along the lines of adding a complete post saying 'you have the brainpower of a dead gnat'.
Somewhere someone is actually being paid to design the appearance and features of the forum. One wonders (and despairs) at the interview selection process.

Bossman comes in and says "Facebook groups are popping and Vb forums are dying left and right. Do whatever it takes to keep them around."

So web architect looks at Facebook and makes a bunch of colorful copy-cat buttons. Not that hard.
