So web architect looks at Facebook and makes a bunch of colorful copy-cat buttons. Not that hard..
I think you got it all wrong Sir. They, our host dont have a real web architect. They have people just going through the process just everyone.
You wanna know how many of these changes I have gone through. Its just another one. JR

As long as we are talking about things, most BBs have the date that the thread was started on the page that lists each board's threads (General, Third Hand, Digital Machinist, etc.). But now we don't seem to have that. I wonder if there is any way to turn it on.

It all depends, at least in my case on what device I'm on.

My tablet looks much as you describe, however on my pc running win 7/firefox nothing has changed.

I also run win 7/firefox and everything has changed. Strange.

It looks to me like the majority of the problems are a result of the new update changing the user style settings. While registered users should be able to change their own styles, that's not working.

So, I need a volunteer. If you are having problems with the new change, let me know and I'll manually change your style to the one I'm using, which shows the pages as they always were, with only the like option updated.

Edit: Never mind, it looks like the style setting may not be responsible. If things aren't working since the update, try logging out and then back in. If that doesn't fix it, contact me and I'll look into your account.

Me too. The text in all the task bar and menu bar items is now almost too small to read, and so far I've found no fix for that.

                  Strange indeed!
As mentioned running under a similar platform the only change here was the lack of the old "like" button and of course the options under the emoji in the lower left hand side of a post.
The Android tablet although a bit different than before is still totally workable and not a deal breaker by any means.

                    George,

OK, I logged out and then back in. I still did not see the date that the thread started. So I did some looking and found a filter button on the General page.

Click image for larger version Name:	NewBBGeneralPage2.jpg Views:	0 Size:	97.4 KB ID:	2062534

As you can see, it shows a number of ways the the posts can be sorted on the page. If I changed Sort By to "Date - started post" then the date of the last update disappeared and the date of the first post was displayed and the order of the Topics was changed to reflect that. But it was not possible to display both of these dates at the same time: only one or the other. This may explain many of the differences that people are reporting.

Also notice that there is another choice for the Order of the posts: Descending and Ascending. I believe someone may have mentioned not being able to find this. But here it is.

Perhaps this may explain some things. And help some of us to change the page more to our individual liking.

I think looking at my account would be a waste of your time. This is a vBulletin thing, not something you or your staff can change. Since you (Village Press) are their customer, perhaps an e-mail to them from you or your computer guy might help. Or not.

PS: I had to reduce the magnification factor in my browser in order to see the full Filter menu as shown above. I used Control and the mouse wheel to do that.

EDIT: Don't look for all those filter options on this page. You need to go back to the GENERAL page to find them.

I believe the only way to change that in Windows is with the Display settings. In Windows you can right click on a blank area of the screen and choose Display settings from the pop-up menu. But beware because changes there will effect EVERYTHING in EVERY PROGRAM as well as just the appearance of your desktop. I don't recommend it.

My Filter button only offers me two of those five options you show: Time and Show. I don't get the Answered, Sort By, or Order options that you are showing.

You don't get all those options IN THE THREAD PAGES. I found the others ONLY on the GENERAL page in the Filter drop down menu there.

                              Hi, George,

Appearance of the pages is OK (only real change I'm noting now is that there is the emoji drop-down and "Quote" & "Flag" Buttons rather than the ellipsis drop-down that there used to be). All of this is OK (other than I'd prefer that there were no downer emoji selections – if someone doesn't like something they can either reply ["Quote" so we know which post] or ignore and move on).

I did rediscover the Editing Menu that I had mis-placed:

Name:	20230912 HSM BB Editing Menu.png
Views:	65
Size:	33.6 KB
ID:	2062588
It appears (and disappears if open) when you click on the "A" Button (Green Square in the screenshot above); if you click on the ellipsis in the Editing Menu (Red Oval), you get the Expanded Editing Menu:

Name:	20230912 HSM BB Expanded Editing Menu.png
Views:	63
Size:	44.4 KB
ID:	2062589

The Expanded Menu collapses back to the "Single-Line" Menu when you click on the greyed-out ellipsis (Blue Oval).

Before I made these discoveries I did log out, and also cleared the Home Shop Machinist cookies in Safari (Mac OS browser) for good measure before logging back in: this additional step may help others who are still having problems.

                              Cheers,

At one time you could make a choice for the order of the posts on your computer/phone. I looked and that does not seem to be present in this version of the BB software.

Actually you still can. it is burred in the user cp Account tab, scroll to display mode and choose latest activity to have newest on top.
