Many restaurants around here have become so greedy that they will charge you 1,50€ extra if you ask for an extra spoon to share your dessert Don't even ask for a spare plate Crazy times we live in now.
Ray Kroc was a jizzbag. He was not interested in the McDonald brothers or how they made they business a success, just interested in squeezing as much money from the franchise holders as possible and forcing them to sell an inferior product. In the end, the founders lost the rights to use their own name for their business.
You should have put “Spoiler Alert!” ahead of that Reggie. 😁
He was ruthless, became more so, and the whole story is pretty interesting.

Our credit card company warned about these type charges, especially if they don't warn you about them. When you book a hotel room they only tell you the base price. In Seattle a $100 room will have a 16% tourist tax and 10% retail sales tax. So you have a bill for $126 plus whatever else they try to charge you. One was adding $8 per night to compensate the under paid room cleaning crew. I had a burger joint add a minimum order surcharge.
Little place in CA in the 60's, Munchies, home of the nickel quarter pound burger, nickel shakes and dime fries.
The burgers and shakes were soy based, the couple who founded the place were from the P.I. and ahead of their time. It was half a block from the junior high and the high school, they got rich.
Burgers and shakes were pretty good, far better than those in the two school's cafeterias.
Just to go along with the special day on Monday I had a homemade cheese burger for dinner. Organic, grass fed ground beef, 8 dollars a pound. Without a press it's hard to get more than 4 patties out of a pound. Add an organic bun, organic lettuce and tomato plus condiments and pretty quick you've got a 3 dollar burger just for ingredients.
