  • Looking for a program to create toolpaths from a picture

I think the title says it all. I know Bobcad sells a program, and it will plug into my bobcadcam, but it's a grand, which is about a thousand more than I wanted to pay for just playing around.

Does anyone know a shareware program that will take a picture and make it useable in a cam program? Thanks in advance,

    Ben Borowsky

Ok, so it's clear that there isn't a free program - does anyone have a cheap recommendation? Thanks.

Are you talking about a raster to vector converter? If so just type that into google, there are a few that are free trimmed down versions, in my experience they didnt work very well though, could have been me though

There is also this vcarve program, it is relatively cheap for machining software anyways, i have played with the demo and it is pretty cool.

              One more:

The Artsoft people (Mach 3) have a free program called "LazyCAM" that looks interesting.

              Best,
