  • Lathe Bench

I'm in the process of building a new bench for the lathe I purchased last month. Since I'm a better carpenter than welder, I'll be bulding it of wood with a few interesting bits added, i.e., the benchtop becomes a pallet and base for crating if I have to move.

Would folks be interested in following my construction in an article on my web page and/or an article in one of the magazines.

I've started cutting wood and shot a couple of pictures of the tricky bits so far.

The lathe, a Maximat 10, will mount directly over 4x6 beams spanning 4x6 legs with a benchtop of 2x8's in between.

Let me know what you think.

Sure - why don't you send it in to HSM and see if they'll publish it. Aside from the money (not a whole lot, but something), it's fun to be a "published author."
