Diamond tools

Is it just me or have the cost of diamond tools come down in the last few years. I now see local hardware stores selling diamond abrasive wheels (I guess for cutting tiles and sorts) for $10!

Has the use of industrial diamond become much more common?

When I went to China about 18 months ago you could buy 4 1/2" angle grinder discs for either stone/masonary or metal for $3USD. I bought a set of 6 diamond hones rather like a Swiss file set in 600 grade for $5USD. At these prices they were well worth the 'risk' as to their quality; but I'm happy to say I was not duped! Looks like, as you suggest, the industrial diamond industry has got its act together.
