  • Where to send Indicators for cleaning?

I have an old Interapid and Starret indicators that both need cleaning.
Where can I send them and how much can I expect to pay.
    Thanks for your help,
    Bill

I sent an edge finder with an over stretched spring and a dial indicater that had been submerged in a storm to Starret. They repaired the edge finder at no charge and only charged a vert small amount for the dial indicater.

        Bill:

I sent a newer Interapid indicator somewhere to be repaired. I'm almost certain it was Long Island Indicator. My indicator sat on a lathe and the vibration made the screws fall out it. My Boss was kind enough to buy me another indicator. Times were good back then.

Rather than toss the indicator I sent in for repair. This was 3 or 4 years ago and Long Island Indicator had a flat fee of $75. Not bad considering a new indicator was around $200. I use the indicator in my home shop now.

John R, did you deal directly w/Starrett?

I sent one of their test indicators (can't think of the model name right now) back to have the cracked lens (cover) replaced, thru one of my local machine tool suppliers, and it cost me about 2/3 the cost of a new indicator.
