  • Acurite DRO change

I have an Acurite DRO on my lathe that needs the output cable from the reading head exiting from the opposite side. Acurite gives directions for doing this but says to do it prior to installation. It's already installed on my machine.

Has anyone done this? Is it suicide to do it without the plastic reading head supports in place that the installation directions talk about (on the website)? The read head is securely supported to the saddle on factory brackets so it looks like it wouldn't be that hard to do using a delicate touch. I can get to the torx screws to open the cover as described in the website directions.
    Thanks for any help.

I think I'd give Acu-Rite a call and ask them. If nothing else, maybe they'd send you a set of the plastic shipping brackets you could re-install.
