    OK this end takes it off.

    and this end puts it back on <g>

    Two close ups.

    Easy to make, just a knurl wheel on a hardened bush screwed into the other end of the boring bar. Best to surface grind the face so it has a cutting edge to it as opposed to relying on a crushing action.

    Actually this is a staged shot on an old bush. The original setup was done to fit some caps into some seal holes to close them off.
    It was easier to knurl the bore than the flimsy caps supplied.

    I have also done the motor end on a coolant pump of mine that was very thin and in pot metal so that it couldn't be sleeved, and that was two years ago.

      John's is knurled - not gnarled - so far as I can tell.

      Take another look - at both.
