When I worked at the local Kaiser Aluminum plant you would see the company millrights and contract millrights.

The company millrights would maintain and repair, the contract people where brought in to install the machinery.

There were electricians, plumbers, welders, etc. within either.

They where all considered to be in the trade.

I did this for awhile, example, FORD glass plant in Tulsa, miles of conveyers to be set, machines to be leveled and balanced etc.

The times I've done that it meant everything from running conduit to hanging pipe racks and wire trays.Threading pipe, assembling flanges and valves, setting electric motors and diesel engines aligning conveyors and wash boxes that sort of thing, basically building production lines and installing new machinery.
