  • Etching Brass

I have a model railroad part made of brass and I want to etch it so paint will adhere (using a airbrush) any ideas ???????????
It is made of many pieces soldered together so I don't want the etching to attack the soldered joints.

    use dilute hydrochloric acid
chances are, it was soldered with killed spirits flux, which is zinc dissolved in HCl.
dunk and check til you get the key you need
    Just got my head together
    now my body's falling apart

      May be of some help

I had remembered this post from a while ago. Finished product looks real good. Perhaps this may suit your application and be of some help.
