  • Has anyone heard of a "CHF" S-Bend Clone?

    Hi all,

I can get a bench mount, back gear, 10"x26+" lathe with a ton of tooling and including 4 chucks, power X and Y, reversible feed screw, change gears but no quick change box, adjustable rear motor mount frame, 17 drawer wooden cabinet, a couple of steadies, a quick=change Jacobs chuck (heavy duty!) and misc. other odds and ends for $600 USD, delivered. It's in excellent shape with everything sliding and turning very smoothly, without noticeable slop and the ways are like new. It was a hobby machine.

The fellow selling it and I were both sure it was a South Bend but the SN (8270) belongs to a 1917 South Bend and somehow the features on this one seem newer. I could easily be wrong though.

The only marking are on the back of the bed where CHF and 9-19-45, both inside a wide diamond are cast into it. I looked CHF up on and found no reference to it, including none as a SB clone. Nothing on google either.

Has anyone heard of this lathe, or better yet owns one?

    Thanks much, Gerry
