  • gear box shafts for SB9A

i want to make new shafts for my 9A quick change gear box. i have some 1" 1144 stress proff, is this a good choice? also does any one have drawings and dimensions for the shafts or should i just take it apart and meassure every thing.
    thanks Rod Williams

That should work good. The factory shaft is 12L14 . 1144 stressproof would be better. Take apart measure put back together make new and put new in .You may wont to make both shafts while you are in their saves time and trouble. Been their done that.

lane thanks for the reply on stress proff, i will have to make all three shafts, very worn. the shift handle shaft holes are very egg shaped too. have to figure out how to center up and bore for new bushings.

I agree -- the 1144 ought to be very good for that job.
