  • Anyone know of or use Safetap?

Looking for some opinions on this stuff. I have been offered 10 gals (2 -5 gal cans) for $40 and am trying to see if it is any good. I know the price is good but many times if the price is too good maybe the item is not.

Anyone use it or have used it give me your impressions of the stuff.

    Thanks

lane...thanks for the input. Are you aware of shelf life on this stuff? I pulled the MDS sheet and it shows a max 2 year shelf life if unopened.
I have no clue how old it is. What can degrade if it is older than 2 years.

      Thanks

I used to use it a lot, and that kind of vegetable oil based fluid can get rancid.

I wish I knew for sure what it was that ruined the paint on my SB9. I've used SafeTap and TapMagic and kerosene. Something turned my paint to gum and know the chips are embedded in it. I'd like to refinish my lathe someday but not till I sort out the gumming paint problem.

Thank you to our families of soldiers, many of whom have given so much more then the rest of us for the Freedom we enjoy.

It is true, there is nothing free about freedom, don't be so quick to give it away.

My guess would be the Tap magic.I use a lot of that and the old stuff would rust the heck out of things when it smoked. And it depends on the paint to some paint wont stand up to all these cutting fluids .I usually use a good industrial grade paint when I paint a piece of machinery. As far as the safetap goes it will probably still do what it was suppose to but may smell.

I would guess any solvent that is oil based would attack paint after a while. kerosene would surely attack it not sure about tap magic or Safetap. From what I read Safetap is a synthetic.
