I found a couple of excellent text books available for free. These are complete, current and free with no strings. The one on electronics is excellent. I haven't had time yet to review the physics text.

Here is a tiny sample from the electronics text, Lessons in Electric Circuits, Volume IV-Digital. It is loaded with current working examples that are usable, not just illustrative.

Above we generate waveforms for driving a unipolar stepper motor, which only requires one polarity of driving signal. That is, we do not have to reverse the polarity of the drive to the windings. This simplifies the power driver between the '4017 and the motor. Darlington pairs from a prior diagram may be substituted for the ULN3003.

Once again, the CD4017B generates the required waveforms with a reset after the terminal count. The decoded outputs Q0 Q1 Q2 Q3 successively drive the stepper motor windings, with Q4 resetting the counter at the end of each group of four pulses.

    Available here in six volumes:

The other is Light and Matter, a multi volume set of material about physics and astronomy at the introductory college level.

    Very cool Thanks.
Been there, probably broke it, doing that!

Thanks Evan, about the only thing I ever get for free is a cold.
At least this I can use.
