  • Low-price High Precision Bearings

Does anyone out there have a reference for really good deals on high-precision angular contact bearings, for a Bridgeport spindle or K.O. Lee
tool and cutter grinder spindle. Class 5 or higher. Are there any discount,
overstock, good import, etc., sources anyone knows of? Please e-mail
    [email protected].

Only if you're lucky. High precision bearings may seem to be over priced but what can you do? Shop wisely.

If you know exactly what you need, and dont need them right now, huge discounts can be found on eBay. I needed precision duplex angular contact bearings for my Rockwell mill, about $240 from my local supplier for Barden or Fafnir. I bought them, but figured I could do better, so took a chance on eBay, immediately found exact same Fafnir part # for $90, and returned the first set. Three years after that, keeping my eye on the 'Bay, I picked up three more sets (2 Fafnir, 1 Barden) for a total outlay of about $50! I couldn't pass them up, so now I'm swimming in spindle bearings.

These seem like a good deal. 8 ABEC5 bearings for $99 plus 8 5" magnesium wheels suitable for use as machine handles.

Oh yeah, some weird sandals too.

I've considered using those ABEC rated skateboard bearings in home shop projects, but I doubt very much that they're really ABEC-5 or ABEC-7. It's not like the skateboarders are going to take them apart and measure the runout

By the way Hans, a set of the Bridgeport 7207 duplex angular contact bearings run around $200 a set for ABEC-7, and $400 set for ABEC-9.
