Well, you found me. I guess that my lurking days are over. Jim guessed right, Neil is moving towards semi-retirement sometime this summer and Craig and I will be taking over for him.
I came to the magazine last November after a 15 year career as a mold maker. I went through an apprentice program in Rochester, New York and eventually moved back to Traverse City MI. I spent most my time programming and running vertical CNC mills. The last five years I was more evolved in EDM, grinding, final fit, and spotting of the tools. I always worked at small shops so I was able to do a little of everything, which kept things interesting. I enjoyed the work, but it is a tough way to make a living in Michigan these days.
I never planned on building up a home shop but now that I don’t have access to all that nice equipment I’m thinking getting one set up, I’ll keep you posted.
Welcome aboard George, we look forward to hearing from you.
Anyone interested in meeting George in person should plan on attending the NAMES show weekend after next. There are several other very good reasons for attending as well once the excitement of meeting George wears off.
