Lathe in local museum

I am starting a cleanup on this piece of old iron. No name plate or other ID has as yet been found. The leg castings have " WF&J Barnes Co., Rockford, ILL cast into them. The bedway casting has Pat. Sept. 21, 1880 and also Feb. 15, 1887. The crank has three throws so as to be able work comfortably at either end. Any help with recollections or links will be greatly appreciated.

Treadle Lathe

I know a lot of folks here don't like the forum, but the Antique Machinery section over at PM has a very large number of knowledgeable people on these old treadle lathes.

Seriously, that is one very nice forum and I do visit it a lot. You just never know what Asquith is going to post next and they're usually gems.

Its an old barnes. Pretty rare for it to still have the treadle.
