  • A little Chuck help please

Anyone have or know someone that has chuck parts? specifically I have a 4 jaw PRATT model 1540-91601, made in England, that needs at least one of the jaw screws. wouldn't mind replace all four, but one will do. It came with my Emco v10, and upon cleaning it up I see that one of the screws is just wasted as in half missing.
    Thanks fellas!

    A company in uk
rotagrip will probably have all the parts ..

    Rotagrip Ltd.,
    16-20 Lodge Road,
    Hockley,
    Birmingham
    B18 5PN
    West Midlands
    Tel 0121 554 5177 int 44 (121)554 5177
    Fax 0121 523 9188

This company though.... is very very expensive .

expect to pay about $80 dollars per screw plus p&p

I hear though, that you can make these screws by chopping up an old scissor type car jack ...

    all the best....markj

MSC has some operating screws for four jaw chucks in their catalog. Specified for Bison chucks, though if the specifications match...... They should be able to give you the spec's for the screws they have and compare against what you need.

They may be able to get "original replacement parts" if Pratt is still around.
Paying Attention Is Not That Expensive.

Hi Robert. I think Pratt is still around, try them at this web site:
http://www.workholding.com/prattmanual.htm it looks like they still offer parts.

          Just A Thought But...

Robert... You could always make one. This a square thread screw for a Atlas 4 jaw and yes I made the first try in the wrong hand perfectly . So I made a new bit for the correct hand and did it again.

Here I ran the srcew forwards and back that test the jaws fit... was perfect.

Here I have it in the index to cut the flats for the wrench it's for the #4 jaw.

I cut it off and put the chuck back into service... works great.
Wow... where did the time go. I could of swore I was only out there for an hour.

Sure it will be expensive top range made in UK.

Probably cheaper to get a new Bison.

It's possible that this company has them:

I have an 8" Pratt independant 4 jaw that that a mashed section on one jaw and a split hex socket on one of the adjusters. Hasn't been a issue so far but Tinkerer's fix has me thinking - a socket head cap screw and -------. Thanks for the tip.
