  • Does LockTite degrade PVC or acetyl?

Does anyone know if LockTite degrades PVC or acetyl? Doesn't seem to short term (like a week) but I was wondering over a period of years.

Regular blue/red loctite (242/262) degrades some plastics, for sure polystyrene.

I don't think it's recommended for use on any plastics. Loctite do make a plastic safe threadlocker but the number escapes me at the moment.

It certainly degrades motorcycle fairings. My buddy went through three front mudguards before he realised that using loctite on the bolts was causing them to crack.

Many locktite products specify "Not For Use on Plastics"
You should read the instructions & datasheet for anything you want to use & not have fail,
