  • Wiring switches for RPC.

    A couple of years ago I bought a 5hp RPC from and I'll need to set it up sometime soon. What I'd like to do is to be able to start and stop the RPC from two different parts of the shop. I have a mill and a grinder 30 feet apart that will be using the RPC and I'm also thinking about putting the RPC in the attic or some place out of the way.

    I'm looking for suggestions on how this should be done, wiring diagrams and what materials, switches, enclosures, etc I should look for.

    I'd like to go VFD, but I have 3 3phase machines that I'll be setting up this summer/fall and presumably a 4th when I find the right deal on a full size mill. Buying a VFD for each seems a waste of cash since I own the RPC.

    where's the motor ...its a static phase converter without that

    you can use one of these on the electricity supply to the converter

    see the small terminals

    they are its actuating circuit

    so you supply 240 volts to them ....and take it around in a loop around your workshop....with switches or emergency stops in the loop.

    the the larger terminals are switched by the actuating circuit ..

    the larger ones have the RPC power supply going through them..

    .when the actuator circuit is broken ...then the larger ones isolate themselves.

    it's what I'm using for an emergency stop system.

    240 volt actuator circuit also needs a fuse or mcb
