Tailstock spindle

The Clausings at school and the Nardini at work both engage the tang, my little Jet 1024 doesn't. In fact I cut the tangs of my drill chuck arbors to get more travel out of the tailstock ram. Of course I got tired of spinning the arbor, so I milled a short slot in the end of the ram (radially) and put a dowell pin in the arbor. Works very well.
