    There is a CNC Emco FB-1 here in edmonton for $9000 (Canadian) in good shape - that being said, I not played with it.

    Wabeco, Prazi, and Emco are all good machines (German/Austrian) that use full sized lathe tooling. Sherline makes machines that lots of people have done incredible work with. Taig also makes a CNC machine. I believe the Wabeco and Prazi's are the only ones available with ball screws from the factory.
