40-taper arbor question

I have a large collection of cutters for my small horizontal mill, a fair handful of which take a 7/8" arbor.

I've managed to locate one 7/8" arbor for a reasonable price so far (though spacers are proving somewhat more difficult) but what I'd really like to have is a 7/8" stub arbor.

Does anyone know of an NMTB-40, 7/8" shank stub arbor? Preferably an import or at least used, so I can actually afford it?

7/8" arbors with 7/8" shanks will not be a hot seller in 40 taper. You might as well resign yourself to making one although it will require a lot of metal removal.

Or possibly make a 40 taper by something else adaptor to take advantage of the smaller shanks available in R8 or Morst taper f'rinstance?

Making one is not as hard as you might expect. Here is a pic of a 1.25 stub arbor I made.



I made it to mount in and end mill holder. The spacers I had on hand. Yes, the nut is threaded left hand. A 7/8 would be a lot less work, I carved that one from a piece of 2" round.

I have a 40 to 30 taper part maybe you could find a 30 taper arbor and use an adpter..... just a thought
