VDF Lathe Question

I think it is some sort of dividing head. The planetary gears give you some ratio.
A better pic would help. I blew it up and it is very intriguing. Can you also post some pictures of the total mechanism? I think there will be something else that is "odd" that will support the "dividing head" theory and help in counting revs.Lathes.co.up say that vfd is a marketing name. Is there a model number or other info?
Or it might be something else. My success ration on these guesssing games is 8%.

Guest repliedThat's pretty odd. There's another gear on the same shaft as the numbered gear, but the teeth seem to have a different pitch.
Can you zoom in on the gear in question in a new picture please?

VDF Lathe Question
I have this VDFlathe it is a V 1 Boeringer, quite old but in good
nick.However I do not understand the purpose of the gear/s with the
numbers on it.
The lathe can cut Metric, Imperial and Modular threads it has a 8tpi
leadscrew.Here is a link to a photo of the gear/s
