The hardest wheels I have used were K. They held their shape forever but it was almost impossible to not burn the work. It required very light cuts and a very rough dressing. I have a feeling that you would be doing more burning than grinding with those wheels.

    L 80 T&C cup wheel - dream or a dud?

asked at the PM grinder forum and everyone must be busy grinding...

....an ebay seller has Norton 5SG cup wheels at low prices. These are the stars of the wheel world but they're an 80 grit grade L. I'm thinking they're cheap because an 80L wasn't a big seller and want opinions on how suitable they'd be

Use is on a Chevalier T&C benchtop grinder, mostly for endmills and other hss tooling. 80 is finer than I'd choose, but maybe workable....I'm wondering a wheel that hard, L, is like to use. Are they going to be a dream or a dud?

    thanks
