  • tapered pin

Had a pin dropped off to the shop this afternoon
The small diameter is 0.708, the large diameter is 0.760 and the o.a.l. is
2.5". The numbers work out to be a 1/4" per foot but I could not find
what number taper pin reamer this is.
The pin came out of a water generator made in the UK in approx the early 60's.
I may not need the reamer, but would be nice to know if needed in the future.

My Machinist Handbook shows the largest tapered pin listed as a #10 with a large end Diameter of 0.706 inches and a length 3.3 to 6 inches. A number 10 Reamer has a large end of 0.7216. Is it possible someone reamed this thing over sized?

MH only lists up to #10, they are available up to #14, which is just over 1-1/2" on the large end.

        I measured a #11 I have, it looks like the actual sizes are 0.7060" & 0.878".
