  • Steel Suppliers in Eastern Massachusetts

Wondering if there are any folks here in the eastern Massachusetts area and if so, who do like to go to for steel stock? I've been to the folks over in west bridgewater but I thought I would ask around.

I am in East Boston and the only place I know of is Central Steel in Somerville. I don't know if they do small volume cash-and-carry, though. I mostly use aluminum and brass and do most of my shopping at Admiral Metals in Woburn, would love to find soemthing similar for steel.

My favorite steel supplier used to be D.B. Cotton in Southbridge. On Saturday mornings they would cater to the small-order walk-in guys, and they had a rack of cutoffs they would sell by the pound. I'm pretty sure the business got sold though, and I don't know what the current business is like.

Peterson's in Worcester is supposed to be pretty good.

Peterson steel is highly recommended. If you want a pound or a truckload they will be ready to help you out. Call ahead to order what you need and they will have it ready to pick up. Peterson is located off exit 2 I-195 just north of Worcester.

Meetal Source (a part of Admiral Metals) in Woburn is also highly recommended.

D.B. Cotton is not located in partnership with a steel fabricator in Putnam CT. Sorry I don't knwo the name of the fabricator company but the are on Kennedy Drive in Putnam. I used to enjoy the occassional drive up to the old location. DB is a bit on the pricey side (my impression) but the are close to school and easy to buzz up there for me.
