  • Mitutoyo glass scale question

    I hope someone in the group has some experience with the mitutoyo glass scales. I have acquired a mill that came with a mitutoyo DRO, but one of the scales is missing the cable. Rather than spend the $125 on a replacement cable, I'm going to fab one. The only problem, I don't know the pinout on the scale itself. I have taken a pic of the guts of the unit, there's 5 wires: Black, Brown, Red, Orange and Yellow. I know these translate to +5vdc, A phase, B phase, ABS and 0v. I just don't know which wire corresponds to which signal. Anyone know, or have a method to find out that won't risk harming the scale?

    I'd also like to know the pinout... I have a mitutoyo head with 6 pin round connectors that I'd like to adapt to anilam scales.

      Here's the pinout at the end of the cable that plugs into the display:




      What I don;t know is on the scale, which pin is 1, and does the cable keep 1 to 1, 2 to 2 etc, or do they switch?

            That's a good idea, the problem I think I may run into is the other longer scale is not the same model. I know for sure it does not have the same style connector on the scale, I think it's hard wired. I'll open it up tonight and have a look.

            I'll post back my findings.

              Yes Mitutoyo keeps the wiring same from the display connector to the encoder connector. I think that the connector has the numbers on it so your drawing of the 0.005 is the correct drawing.

                Thanks everyone for the ideas and confirmation that the wires run 1 to 1.

                The longer scale was not the same, so this info pertains only to the AT2 series.

                For the AT2-N300 the wires on the inside of the reader box are

                Black = 0V
                Yellow = ABS
                Orange = B
                Red = A
                Brown = +5V

                I got it wired up tonight and everything works as it should.

                Hope this may help someone in the future.

                  I have a similar problem with my AT2-N1200 Mitutoyo scale. The cable was torn out of the detector box on the scale.
                  Can anyone send me a picture of how the colors of the cable fit to the small circuit board in the detector box?
