Source for B&S Carburetor Parts?

Does anyone have a source for vintage Briggs & Stratton carburetor parts? The engine on my L&S garden tractor is a 1950 B&S Model N, 2HP. The float valve does not seat. Float & all are good. The engine runs well, but leaks through and smokes like a mosquito fogger.

Do a google- search on B&S carb-parts an you will find it. Or go to the B&S homepage and you will find what you need. Hopefully.

Been there done that. I can find plenty of parts for contemporary engines, not 1950 models though.

JCH, what is an L&S garden tractor? Is that something along the lines of the old David Bradleys or Gravelys? I don't remember ever seeing or hearing of those.
Just curious and didn't find it on google.

Jim I just had a quick look and don't have time right now for a thorough search (because my wife has her arms crossed and wants to go out for super).

Anyway have a look at these two pages.
The first one has date codes for your B&S model N, a little better than half way down the page, and the second one has carb overhaul kits also a little better than half way down.

With simple parts (one piece seat and needle) you may be able to repair these on the lathe. The seat is prob. brass, and the needle is either brass or stainless. If the scoring isn't too bad, simply lapping them together will likely produce a workable pair; with more significant damage you may need to make a tool to form a better seat. The needle is easy to clean up on the lathe once you manage to hold it. A Sherline would be nice for this job...

Floats are harder to repair....

Thanks for the suggestions. I have pretty much already checked out most of them to no avail. I will try to contatc Rick at HMEM.

I had to make a main jet for it already and was hoping not to need to do the same for the float valve & seat. It still might be necessary as it is questionable if I can get the seat out.
