If you go to this thread on PM, there is a link to a scan of a 1940 Hendey operators manual. It covers both cone head and gear head, I don't know if it gives the weights. http://www.practicalmachinist.com/vb...=hendey+weight
Can anyone give me the weight of a 12 x 30 Hendey lathe built in 1945?
thanks
A 12 x 30 gearhead weighs about 3600 pounds. The bed is about
800 pounds and the headstock about 550.
I had to take mine apart since my celler has a wood stair along a wall.
The bed and headstock came in a small window at ground level. The
headstock needed a special skid because it has a gear sticking out
the bottom. It was a one man job for me in 1986. Not now.
I will leave a set of instructions for my executors when that time
comes. Charlie
