What do dogs dream about? That is the question...
As some know I teach my dogs to talk. I don't mean to woof on command although I do teach them that too. I teach them to speak english. They can't say many words but there are a few that they can wrap thier mouth and vocal cords around. First one is "out". They can make a modified howl that sounds very close, "OOwww....". Beardog and the new kid, Snoopy both know how and when to say this appropriately. Beardog isn't a big talker though.
Snoopy, well, you can't shut him up. He picks up words like a parrot but knows exactly what they mean. He can say "hello" so clearly that it sounds like another person speaking in the next room. He spooked my wife good one day when she was in the garden by sneaking up behind her and saying "Helllooo". Every morning when he comes back in from his fence marking chores he makes the rounds between my wife and me saying hello several times. He can be moody though and I must of done something to piss him off because he didn't talk to me for a week lately. He has also been working hard at teaching me Doggish but I must not have the accent quite right.
Anyway, one thing I taught him was to say "ummm hmmm (high intonation on the first, falling on the second, as if to mean yes)" to mean food. He says it just like a child would say it with mouth closed and sounds exactly the same. He will come up to me and sit there to get my attention and when I glance at him he will hum "Ummm Hmmm". He wants his breakfast snack. If he is really hungry he will put an extra emphasis on it like "UMMM HMMM hmmmmm".
SO, the last two nights while I have been working on the computer he has been in the room sound asleep. Both last night and the night before while he was dreaming came from him with absolutely no mistake... "Ummm Hmmm" and "UMMMM HMMM hmmm".
So now we know what dogs dream about: FOOD.
