  • 5mm pitch HTD timing belt pulleys

I need to make up a pair of pulleys to suit a 5mm pitch HTD timing belt, but I don't have a belt to hand. I can glean a fair of info from here

    http://www.york-ind.com/print_cat/5mm_htd.pdf

but not the size of the cutter I need to use. Which is understandable because they would prefer that I buy from them rather than DIY.

From the belt section drawings towards the bottom of the page it sort of looks like the teeth are 2.5mm wide or maybe a little wider. I'm thinking in the direction that if I use a standard square ended 3mm cutter I should be just about right. This is not for NASA, but one pulley will be turning at 1500RPM. Any thoughts?

    Bob,
From a Cad drawing a 5mm HTD pulley tooth width measures 2.9874

    Wouldn't a 3mm ball be better suited?

Use a 1/8" ball nose milling cutter or drill a ring of 1/8" holes and turn down to the OD from the tables.
