I built this a few years ago. I always used to portage my canoe on my back but am getting too old for that macho ****. So, a couple of low impact go cart tires instead of those stupid bicycle tires on the commercial carts that dig deep ruts in the trails. The whole thing only weighs about 15 pounds and disassembles with a few thumbscrews so it lays flat in the bottom of the canoe.
All of 1" square thinwall steel tube, oxy/acetylene welded.
The cart, goes amidships on the canoe.
Welding detail (for Dan)
