  • sintering TiO2?

    evening all,
its an odd question, but then its been an odd week...

Does anyone know if you can sinter Titanium Dioxide (brilliant white) into a solid lump of TiO2? If so what would its material properties be like?

    cheers

Yes, you should get a lump of hard stiff stuff but it will probably have a fair number of defects making it not as strong as one might like. See http://www.ceramics.nist.gov/srd/scd/Z00421.htm

I don't know the compression required, the temperature necessary or what materials would be compatible for dies.
