    Found this on craigs list.

    Any idea what it is or how old? Looks like flat belt drive.

    Don't hold me to it, but I believe that's an old Covell. Not necessarily "flat belt" drive as in old overhead-shaft drive, but belt driven from a motor in the base.

    No clue on the age, other than a very rough guess of circa WW2. Local shop has one (assuming that one is, in fact, a Covell) and I seem to recall seeing a "war finish" tag, though it was beat up and painted over, so I may be wrong.

    Looking at that one, it appears to have a plain-bearing spindle. If you're interested, take the time to double-check spinde runout and whatnot.

      Whats the best way to check the spindle run out? DTI at the grinding
      wheel location? Or by the bearings/bushings? thanks
