  • What do I need to view a SLDPRT file

Title says it all. I dont want to buy solidworks and when I serched google everyone is wanting to "check" my puter. Scares me. I dont need some crap taking over my computer trying to sell me their software..Thanks Jim

You need Solidworks. Or another 3D modeller that can open .sldprt files.
And depending what version it was created with, you need that version or newer to read it, as files are not backward compatible.

I thought solid works did a free viewer ?

      http://www.edrawingsviewer.com/pages...ks-Viewer.html

Don't use SW so can't check.

You might try the first item at this SolidWorks page. Our fabricators use similar viewers from SolidEdge unless they have a need for the actual package. Den

The free viewer only works if the part is saved as an e-drawings file, which would have a .eprt or .easm file extension.

Is the part something you can share? If you send me the part file I can convert it to a jpg, pdf, or a dimensioned drawing.

I just remembered seeing a viewer from Oracle last week and wondering why Oracle would be interested in this business. There is a 30 day free trial which could be fully functional or might be crippled ... worst case would be with no printing support

It opens part, drawing and assembly files. Alibre will open SolidWorks part and assembly files but not drawings.

                    http://www.oracle.com/technology/pro...ks-viewer.html

Incidentally, you've got 31 files involved in that Stirling project.

I believe Rhino can import a .sldprt file. If you don't have access to Rhino you can download a trial version. Or maybe a Rhino user can convert them to a format that you can use.
