i recently obtained an aciera precision drill press which uses schaublin 6mm collets-does anyone know where these can be found

    ent,

Schaublin collets (W Series) are usually described as the shank diameter. Such that a W12 collet has a 12.0mm diameter shank, is 44.5mm overall length, with a 16.0mm head diameter. Collet front angle is 15* with a 0.461" x 1.25mm Buttress thread. these are available upto a maximum 8.0mm dia. grip. Other collets in the W series range are W20, W25, and the odd named W31.75!!

I wonder if the shank diameter of your Aciera drill collet is 6 mm then you may need a Lorch style collet, details are:-

    Shank 6mm dia.
    30.0mm O/length
    10.6mm head dia.
    20* 30' head angle
    5.0mm x 0.7mm P Drawbar thread
    0.5mm to 5.0mm capacity range

Please confirm your collet size and we can find exactly what you need.

        ent,

This is a 'Lorch' collet manufactured by Schaublin then. The Einheit number for this collet is 304E. It is currently available new from
        Crawfords Collets
        Tower Hill Works, Witney
        Oxfordshire
        OX8 5DS, England

        Tel +44 1993 703931
        or email: [email protected]

Their Cat ref. for this collet is #2801 range of sizes are 0.5mm to 5mm (these collets DO NOT collapse down and can only be used for their stated diameter)

        They'll cost about آ£20 ($34USD) each.

For second hand collets try an advert on the 'Private Ads' of the following website:-

        http://easyweb.easynet.co.uk/~chrish/homepage.htm

Come back if you have no luck as I might know of some other places to try.
