Beautiful machine Dan, it came out pretty darn nice. Thanks for posting the video. Been meaning to build one of those myself.
Did you have any tracking issues? Speaking of tracking, what method are you using, a radiused idler?

Look after that cough, Christmas is just around the corner, don't want to be in bed when Santa comes a knockin'.

Yeah, and then he throws the package at the front door and scampers away.

or just leaves a sticky note that he did not even bother to fill out.

Yes, probably about a 2" radius, which I simply hand ground. I used a 3/8" n.f. thread on the adjustment shaft for this, and polished the contact end of it.

ps. I think the cough came from all the recent grinding and sanding I've been doing on this thing !

                  • I tried to watch, but 2 minutes in, I forgot what I was suppose to be watching and the video started talking about needed subscribers and and giveaway. Maybe I clicked on the wrong link. Oh well.

                    • Yeah, I also lost interest. Here are some things I recently got from AliExpress.

Nibbler ($12), Mini Chucks and Collets:

Some electronic components. Assortment of multicolor heat shrink tubing ($2.19). Joystick module ($1.92). Stainless steel bands, 10 each 150 and 300 mm ($0.94 and $1.28). There are 10 each of toggle switches, SPDT and DPDT, ON-ON and ON-OFF-ON. Less than $10 for all 40.

Got some other stuff, too, and more on the way. Here is a package of two multi-color RGB automotive lamps with IR control. I think I got them from Banggood, about $2:

I think you're the sole reason Trump wants out of the UPU. Get ready to pay "real shipping" from China.

                        • " real shipping" will then work the other way also....

I need to ship some stuff to Australia... USPO will do it now, but after the change (if it ever comes to pass) USPO will be out of that business, and Fedex or others will own it. At double the current cost.

                          • Just got back from my sons garage, where i went to check out the new GM "Crate Engine" he just bought for the late model Stock car we'll be running this year. Very impressive engine, And the spec sheets that came with it, GM did a fantastic job with this. All the Crate "Spec" engines are sealed at the factory, so no one can tear one down and modify it further. These seals are not available anywhere else, one on each head bolt, two on the intake, two on the timing cover, and two on the oil pan bolts. If these seals are broken, its an automatic suspension to race. Soon as Christmas day is over, we're going to get the engine installed and fired up. (for what he paid for this engine, you cannot build one for the price.) Very Impressive.

                            • Just finished refurbishing an old, rusty, 43" slip roller. Bought it at an Estate Sale (50 bucks) where it had been stored outside for over a year. Also, built a stand for it so it can be wheeled around the shop.

                              • Nicely done dipper. Was there much pitting on the rolls? And, what about that stand? It appears the hydraulic jack brings the casters in and out of service. Any chance for a better picture of it?
