The inserts can be changed or turned 90° at a time thus giving you 4 cutting surfaces per insert.

However the Trueset Knives are really easy to change and set and sharpen. In addition the 72 inserts are proprietary (and we all know what that is like)

The company willingly through in 72 additional cutters to complete the sale. That made the decision simple
That's a good point. I bought mine from Grizzly back in 2009 and I'm not even sure if they still sell the optional spiral head inserts. I should look up the head and see what kind of inserts it uses.

        • I knew I would not need them in 5 years, my concern was what happens in 10-15. Likely the tool will
Outlive me. Hopefully I’m set. (All these “what is it posts” gets
          Me thinking about NOS!)

I was there this morning but in my haste to get into town I passed right over it.
            Damn, that is nice work!

The handy thing for you is that the photos are already out there in cyber land so posting them here is easy. All you have to do is go to wherever you have posted photos online before and right click on the image you want to display here and then select "copy image location".

Then on the reply page here you will see some command options at the top of the page to the right of the smiley icon. (Hover your cursor over any of the icons in order to see what those options are.)

Select the middle one (inset image) and paste the address you copied from the chopcult page that has your photos.

                    • Discovered how easy it is to detect solid carbide vs. HSS with a powerful Neodymium magnet. The magnet will easily lift HSS straight up but doesn't have anywhere near the strength to lift up solid carbide.
