To tell you the truth I don’t know what takes a 7/16-28tpi. I just made what the guy at the gun store asked me to. Since 5/8-24 is standard for 30 cal. I have no worries about him trying to stuff a larger than 30 cal. out the 7/16 adapter.
And I’m quite proud of the knurling on this one. Dare I say it I might be getting the hang of it. It’s not very reassuring when the instructions with my knurlier say it’s not an exact science and a practice part is needed.

I got a few things done today.
Did that toolpost nut but really hated the shoulder bolt so I made this out of stainless and brass.
And I disassembled and cleaned and lubed these record vises. I had the little one forever and last week got it's bigger brother. The little guy was jealous so I made him some copper jaws.

Been retired for a week now, lucky me right. 6 loads of painted wood and plastic to the anal landfill that sorts from my trailer to a mile of stops for each item been a while since I went to the dump. Built a lathe table from scraps they didn't make the dump run, table legs recycled computer desk. Top an IKEA futon lower frame for a top base waterbed 1/2 inch plywood for inner and outer top front and 1/2 inch single layer for the rear where boxed tools now reside. Got my 65 year old SB-9AX48 on the table with a comealong half a bucket of thinned oil and it all turns nice, not used for 1/2 an eon my guess. Spindle thrust bearing installed nice to have no slop in the spindle. Removed everything from my workshop shed and I do mean everything. Tomorrow I get to do the other side and put all my gold tools in a new to me big wooden box. Had a very nice day and feel like I need my ciropractor in a box inversion table for a 1/2 hour ride before going for coffee on the bike. Retirement simply means I now work harder for me than at any other time in my life for no income but I do like it so far.Last edited by bubby-joe; 07-31-2014, 01:20 AM.

I did something I can't believe I hadn't thought of before. As I was removing the ER32 collet chuck from my mill yet again to install a drill chuck, I thought "wouldn't think be easier if I had a drill chuck on a straight shank I could pop right into a collet?" I now have 3/8" 1/2" and 5/8" drill chucks on 3/4" shanks for those times when my drills are between collet sizes. I think my boring head's destined for one too.
