  • Well, yesterday I made two airplane racks and hung them up on the wall. Wife got tired of me placing airplanes around the house in random spots. Not sure where I will put the much larger models when I get around to building them.

On strings from the bedroom ceiling....right above her head. Well, she wanted them put away properly, right?!

In my R/C shop downstairs, I ended up using adjustable wall mounted shelving with 24" arms. I also used pipe insulation

        Full size:

        • Two great things happen. Scientists photographed a black hole and I got a string trimmer to feed right.
An Echo brand, it uses 36' of string secured in the middle to the hub of the spool and the two 18' strings wound at the same time
but trying not cross. Of course I use the lathe.
Using it a lot lately trimming around wild roses and thorn trees to find the trunk to cut and poison. Lot of string feeding problems.
Really wanted to silicon spray the entire spool but might be a bad idea.
Instead used about a gram of silicone grease in each aluminum thimble where the string comes out of the hub.
          Feeds perfectly.

          • So did you prove the age old internet mystery of whether a plane can take off from a treadmill or not?

              ...

The latter is the greater accomplishment - assuming you didn't imagine it ...

I find it more credible that he flew in the black hole, than he got a string trimmer to feed right!

I'm having the same issue with the engines and clocks I've built. She often dolls up the house according to season and holidays, so while my engines may be "works of art", they just don't fit in with her decorating.
I have an office with nice shelves that are full of Hess trucks that I've collected over the years.
I'd like to get rid of them, as I no longer find the joy in them that I used to, especially compared with my own things that I've created.

Just need to find someone that would like them. (for a very reasonable price, of course, after all, I did have to buy them at one time).

You can only have and display so much!

Did you actually pick it up like that? Seems like an awful lot of weight to trust to the threads in the ram casting. My mill weighs 2200 lbs.

I think lifting eyes like that either have significant threads, or have a washer/plate/nut terminating the eye-bolt.

                        • If I stored my airplanes without the wings on, I could triple my storage space, but I am lazy.

                            • Well after 45 plus years I finally got a decent no bounce fab table.
30 inch by 48 inch with radius corners on front edge...I like that part
Legs need a bit of fixing.. top is pretty clean.
It's a size that really works for me, many are just to big. It will fit a motorcycle frame, this is one of the biggest pieces I work on.
Sure it's small for fence stuff or a gate, but i dont do regular fab.
The good part 1 inch thick. I hate tables that bounce when you hit them..

Yes, it is off the ground in the pic half way threw the "move".

I took it off the trailer with my hoist, then wheeled it over to the wall with the cherry picker.
