    • Stopped by the parts store for a set of windshield wipers. Nothing extraordinary about that,

      but,

on the counter were a couple boxes for Digital Inspection Mirror. WTH? I've got a couple inspection mirrors already that go back to the wrenching days. Mostly they're used now for tick inspections, but what would a digital one do? Ah, the digital guy looks like the typical extensible handle with a square black plastic "mirror" on the end, but is really a camera that talks to your cell phone on Bluetooth. It should have been an obvious extension of the tiny digital camera bit and I can see that being really handy. With a real mirror it's always a chore getting the line of sight to the mirror and then the mirror at the right angle to see what you need too. Now I wonder it this has its own LED light as well. Hmm. This is worth thinking about.

        • Rainy day here so I've been organizing my fishing stuff with my boy, while my daughter is on the couch puking her guts out from a stomach bug that hit around 4am. Wife is working nights all weekend, so she's sleeping in the bedroom, and has to go back in tonight (nice mothers day). We just finished painting a bunch of homemade jigging spoons, and took a break for lunch. Gotta re spool a couple reels, and get some trolling rigging together. We're leaving this Thursday for a remote northern Ontario fishing trip and there's lots to do still.

          • Bought a $40 LG g3 and rooted it / installed lineage os 16 (android pie)

So far so good. It is amazing that newer os would run better than an older one with the same hardware.

              • Did some painting of some of the deckel parts today. I thought it turned out okay. As soon as I sat down with the photos I saw a spot I missed in prepping properly, and I thought the saddle might have gotten a bit textured compared to the other parts, think the compressor was loosing pressure and I was too into it to turn it on... The pressure switch doesn't work quite correctly so I gotta turn it on and off manually, really need to get a new one. I have a 100l tank though so I thought it would last.

                Before painting:

The color match when the paint is fresh is nearly perfect IMO. Let's see what happens when it cures...

Like I said, I think the saddle finish got a bit much orange peel.

                • looks better than anything I've ever painted!

regreased a Jacobs 14N chuck that Sid Pileski very kindly gave me. No particular need to take it apart, but at least I now know it's good to go for another sum of years

really looking forward to using this on the mill, thanks Sid!

Just hope that you get the stomach bug before remote northern Ontario :P

Daughter had mild stomach bug some time ago, she recovered really fast and after couple of days we left to grandparents in northern finland. 8 hours drive and I was lucky to reach there as 4 hours later I had full blown ”winter bug” or norovirus, high fever and stereo outputs on food processing system.
Fast forward 3 days and I have recovered, only to find out that my parents and brother are now getting sick..

                      • "Norovirus"........ I visit the home town of the Norovirus a couple times a year, and I cannot say I have ever caught it there. I think it moved out of Norwalk and lives somewhere else now. But I did not think it would have got to Finland. So much for modern world and means of travel.

                        • Had lunch with a friend from the company I used to work for before I retired last year.

Found out that the guy who replaced me quit after giving them only two days notice. Personally I don't think this is fair. I had to put up with them for 42 years.

Ya, the thought crossed my mind that my time is coming, but i felt a bit down yesterday too, so I may have been dealing with it as well, but I'm a bit bigger and tougher than a 4yo girl.... . To her credit though, shes a champ and only missed the puke bucket once. Her last puke was around 1900, and I carried her into her bed shortly after that when she fell asleep. She woke up right as rain this morning, and was mad she didn't get the spaghetti and meatballs we had for dinner last night. She wanted them for breakfast because she missed them for dinner lol.

We leave Thursday night to head north, so I've got some time to run it through me. While ****ting in the woods doesn't really bother me much I'd rather not have to do it anymore than necessary The 6lbs of spicy buffalo wing beef jerky I made for the trip will be bad enough lol.

                              • Friend of mine used one of these that I have, he decided it was a good tool, and wanted one. So I took a half hour or so and made him one. He's bringing up an Onan CCK for an overhaul, so he'll get it then.
