I've never been lucky enough to twist a tap, they usually just snap.
I realize it's softer but sometimes it's nice to have some "forgiveness" built into a tap.
I think that was a junky carbon-steel tap, a HS tap should never twist.

According to the label, they're HSS and by a UK maker (Rennie Tool Company) but it was definitely more ductile that I'd have expected.

      • Did the tap ever get really hot? Blame it on global warming...

        • It's midsummer, 2nd biggest holiday after christmas in Finland.

And we brought the kittens along, getting them used to ride in the car. Just open the door and call them and they jump in.

The potatoes are steaming and the wines is cold, no better way to spend the holiday than with friends and family.
Thanks for sharing the photos, always nice to see what goes on in someone else's backyard.

That's really cool. My cat loves the car too...you can tell by the way he howls like the world is about to end!

Dang it, I woke up before dawn this morning and never thought to open a north window and stick my head out to see the sun come up there. Only happens two or three mornings, and I usually miss it.

Thanks for the pics, Dennis, looks like a lovely place and a beautiful day.

                    • Yes, this is the Summer Solstice. It's a big deal for many people, especially perhaps those in Estonia and Lithuania and others. My friend who came from that region used to host a Summer Solstice party, and I wrote a song for her, later reworded for the KOA Kampground where I often go:

I don't claim to be a great guitar player, but I enjoy it.

                      • Them gib screws, what did you thread them with ? They look a bit wavy on the crests.

                        • Think it's the photo, they look and work fine. A bit coarse finish though but this material was not amiable to turning IMO. I turned & threaded using carbide inserts.

                            • Sneak peek of some video projects. One is a custom BXA boring bar holder. Second is repurposed HF indicator mount for videoing. Third is a plate so I can saw short rectangular stock down from larger pieces for projects
