  • Welded up a table out of angle. The 2 extra angle pieces are for the pads on the surface plate.

Finished unit just needs cleanup and paint.

Fits nicely under my packaging / measurement bench.

I will be mounting extra adjustable feet on the bottom for stability and leveling when in use.
Guaranteed not to rust, bust, collect dust, bend, chip, crack or peel

    • Small wood splitter

Working on a screw type wood splitter. Threading the cone was a trip. Pic of work in progress.

Nice work and score on the plate!

My only gripe would be the ankle killers sticking out. At one time I had something similar on a table or welding cart or the like. After smashing my ankles into them twice was the end of that noise. Now I never build anything that has any sort of corner sticking out especially at ankle height.

        • It's under the bench now but when I have the time to actually use it I'll be putting a bumper with leveling feet on it.

Right now those casters are nasty but I wanted a wide base so I stuck them out.

          • Bumpers are a good idea! As is a wide as possible stance especially for something that top heavy.

            • Wasn't today, but a few days ago, made these electrical plug bodies for a test setup.

PVC material, drilled and bored out and variously cut and milled to make the clamps and retainers

                • Wanted more speed out the spindle on the POS for engraving and wood carving, so bought a cheap laminate trimmer and made a mount :-

And now I have a POS to carve it out...

I was worried about Z sag as I didnt have any thicker plate to mill the bracket from, and may still add more z bracing if it proves needed when some more material arrives, maybe a bearing carried in the spindle too, but its very light and for very lightweight cutting only & results are much better, it has a pinch at the rear to lock it on solidly and internal detail to match the end of the spindle quill and it is quite secure. This was a quick test carve of the start of the feathers engrave I posted into my POS thread using a drill bit as the cutting tool.

                  • I picked up a couple items this morning. Should be nice additions to the hobby shop.

                    • Went to a memorial service for a 2008 grad who died in a motorcycle last week. About 250 people in attendance, it was very sad. I remember him as a so-so student but a pleasant, not a pain in the ass kid.

                      • Still working on the splitter, pretty stoked, had to recut the threads on the pointy end of the cone. Works good on 2x lumber so far. Have to find some real sticks to try.

Can't tell much from the single blurry distant pic but there is mention of a dro which has a non working keypad and a vfd with a non working screen. lol Seller does mention a little slop in the middle of the ways, we shall see what "a little" is.

                            • That little two stroke race bike looks lots of fun!

I have been dialing in the rest of the qc30 toolholders that arrived with my mill, the flanges were too thick by on average 0.010 inches so the cam ring couldnt begin to lock on.

Put silver steel pin in spindexer and 5c collet and grind down to 10.5mm, take mic and check its parallel to check the spindexer is perpendicular to the wheel movement, then clamp onto 10.5mm portion of pin with er32 collet to be doctored, then grind flange on outside down by the required amount.

Pretty productive afternoon, I have 9 more toolholders that fit the machine now. Just need to buy some milling cutters to actually put in them now. Came in house and family had been slobbing out watching james and the giant peach on tv so everyone happy with sunday pace.
