Y'all should be in Mississippi. We are 17 inches above normal rainfall already this year. Going outside is like stepping into a sauna with temps in high 80's to mid 9o's.

We have the sauna, we just had less rain.

My job today, aside form the usual, was to dig up a curly willow and pot it. Can't have it searching for the water and sewer lines. It was IN a pot, but a small one, and it went right through that and into the ground. It wasn't too big yet, only about 7 or 8 feet high

Due to the sauna effect, I think I lost 8 lb doing the job (by hand). Right now, you sweat just sitting in the shade.

Sauna here too. In WNY you have cold and wet, or hot and wet.
Being jammed in between a couple of the Great Lakes does that.
I swear you can hear the grass grow. Its real happy.

Changed the 2-position direction switch on my Smithy for a 3-position switch for easier threading. The one I received was momentary contact but once I removed the springs it is perfect.

I bought a plasma cutter, Stahlwerk 70A. Chinese machine via Germany, but at my budget it's what I had to choose from. I know of other users of this machine and it cut 25mm steel cleanly so I went this way.

I am also prepping my old oxy fuel torches I got from my father, some day I'll get those on line.

Dishwasher repair kicked my butt today. Built in Samsung dishwasher....well known piece of junk. Error light flashing showed that water wasn't draining, quick glance in tub, yup, full of water. Trip the door switch and check operation while watching inside. Grinding noise coming from drain pump, but could tell it was "moving water" a bit..... pull out racks, dissemble internal pump screens, but can't get to pump from there. Uninstall entire washer, and flip over to remove pump from bottom. One of the plastic pieces from the rack ends fell off, and was partially blocking impeller.......clean up pump, bench test to verify it's working, reinstall pump, reinstall washer. Pat myself on back, test to verify operation. No change....pump spinning, very little water being pumped out. Hmmmmm. Remove washer again, flip over, trace drain lines and discover there is a blockage in the side piece that routes water and contains a couple sensors. It's opaque white plastic and I can see something in there. head out to garage, bend up some tig wire and fish it out. A cherry pit, that has collected a bunch of hair and other nasty stuff. Great, found the blockage, reinstall everything, pat myself on back again, test.....same thing. WTF.

By this point I've had enough. Take a break for a coffee, search the web, both for solutions, and new dishwashers (there's a problem every 8-12 months with this thing). Discover there is a rubber "check valve" that really likes breaking off on this model and plugging the drain line between pump and that side piece that had the cherry pit stuck in it. Finish coffee, have a look for the flapper flapper and it's gone. Haul the POS out again, and pull that hose off and give it a blow test. Resistance. Same tig, wire fished out that rubber flapper, reinstall, and test.....success. It's currently running a cycle and all is well again (for another couple months). Online sources list that rubber check flapper at $25.....We'll see how it works without if for now while I search for a replacement. I've never been happy with the effectiveness of this washer anyway, and having to haul it in and out every couple of months for stupid and expensive fixes, I've had enough of it. Hopefully it lasts another week or so while I scour the web for the best possible replacement. I bought it as an in store special in haste. The first repair (leaky $ump $eal) was when I discovered it's (and all Samsung appliances) terrible reputation.

Sure I should have checked all possible sources of blockage, but when faced with such obvious answers to the issues I was seeing....... On the plus side I can pull it out, and put it back in, in less than 5 minutes now. And I caught a drawer that was rubbing on the supply line that could have been messy.....It had wore through the stainless outer cover, so I re routed the hose and used a longer one to keep it from happening again.

Just had to vent, hopefully you get a chuckle out of my misfortune lol. Now I gotta go out and fix the lawnmower......hopefully that goes better.

on the plus side, you are quickly becoming an expert repairer of Samsung dishwashers! Not a highly marketable skill, but I'm sure it'll come in useful in another few months

Not today, but awhile back. Had the bed off my work truck changing the fuel pump and decided to add a set of air helpers. Bought the bags off Amazon for $90/pair delivered. Fabricated some CAD brackets (Cardboard Aided Design) fitted and bolted to existing OEM holes in the frame. I just put Schrader valves on them for now. At just 15 psi, immediate improvement in towing and ride height.

Election year, time to call my septic tank pumper guy. 4 years seams to work good for my system, you need to clean it out before the solid stuff reaches the outlet pipe.

Somehow, there is an appropriate-seeming connection between septic tanks and politics, particularly in election years..... Certainly my answering machine will end up needing to be cleaned out due to accumulated crap in the upcoming months. Happens every second and fourth year, just as you suggest.

Disassembled the chinese 5" 3-jaw chuck I bought, man... it was full of grit and grease. Definitely never use these directly. And the grease was really hard to get off, I had them in soap and water in the ultrasonic cleaner in multiple passes. What I should have done was break out the hot plate and lye.

But I got it clean, lubed and reassembled. Then I put it back in it's box and on a shelf... Don't got a back plate for it, or material for a back plate even. Cast iron is hard to source in Finland, as a hobbyist. Bought a bar from germany recently.
