Today a friend brought some rims and tires for his Street Stock class race car (he's getting it out of mothballs) over to mount and we used my old manual tire machine to do them on.
This is the same car we built in my garage over twenty years ago and with which we won eight championships in a row at our local circle track, a record no one in any class has come close to matching to this day.Location: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada

We went to friend's house and spent the day cutting down trees, digging out the stumps by hand, and digging and moving a lot of wheelbarrow loads ot dirt (did not count them) uphill to the place that needed dirt, from the place that the trees were on, that was a small mound.
Then trimmed a bunch of trees with a pole saw, and cut up the slash from the trees and the trimming. It was supposed to be something over 90F today, no idea what it got to, but I drank a gallon of water without needing to pee very badly...... Going back for more of the same tomorrow afternoon.CNC machines only go through the motions.

danlb If you can handle PIX, you can manage IOS. Much more logical layout and more human-readable. Plenty of online docs and examples you can copy and paste chunks from.
Tim The Grim That's a bad run of luck for her - real insult to injury territory. You're a better man than I getting that finished in that heat and looking good. I reckon my effort may have come to a halt half-day! Actually I'm pretty stubborn so it might have been finished but with a body obstructing the end.

swapped the shocks on the car. Went from 100k original shocks to lovely new Bilstein B6 shocks (heavy duty monotube). First one took about 4 hours, half of that figuring out how to get the spring compressors on to compress the spring enough (answer, smack it round the coil with a mallet) and the remaining half taking it apart twice, the last one after finding the all important strut mount cone washer in one of my cycling shoes. Strut mount rotated nicely after that went in
put the LCA bushing back in the right way round too

and the rears
new front sway bar links as well (one was leaking) and I've just ordered two new rear links as one of those was leaking too. Haven't had an alignment yet, but holy cow bells what a difference. It's back to being the family rally car I loved (maybe not the family though!) and cherishedOnly took 9 1/2h (inc. frustration breaks) in a 95F garage. I'm a lot lighter now!
Job today - do nothing.

Our village cricket club at last had its first match of the season on a super sunny day. Pavillion had to be closed and so no tea and cakes (well I did take my own). We won 199 to 132 all out. One of the mowers was reported as making an awful sound and not cutting which is about as technical as the goundsman is capable of being. Plastic intermediate gear just bridging a gap had ripped itself off its bronze bush. Teeth intact and bush spins freely so don't understand what made it so unhappy. Still have the suppliers ebay link for same gear two years ago. Might be able to bore tooth ring to fit a ball bearing and have it as a spare.

I met and adopted two wonderful dogs today. They were presented on an Adopt-a-Pet website listing by the owner. Griffey is an 8 year old German Shepherd, and Nyke is an 11 year old black GSD/Golden retriever mix. The owner had adopted both of them together from a SCRAPS shelter in Spokane, WA, when he lived there. I had been looking for just one dog, preferably a senior, but the one I was approved for from the All Shepherd Rescue would have had a $300 adoption fee plus a requirement to attend obedience classes and other obligations. This adoption just required a $49 donation to animal rescue. And it would have been a shame to separate this bonded pair. They rode in the car very nicely and seemed to feel right at home with me. Two big dogs will be a challenge, but they are well behaved, affectionate, and basically trained. I was feeling stressed before getting them, but now I feel much better

Was crazy enough to go over to our friend's place again and finish moving the small hill of dirt, plus pulled out a couple more stumps. As a result, I am beat, but at least the concert tonight was an Iranian guy with a jazz trio. They were very good.
And there was Syrian food to go with it, from some Syrian immigrants. Rice, greens and chicken kebab, plus falafel. That was very good also. One of my favorite food types. So other than needing to drink another couple quarts of water to catch up with what I sweated off, I'm fat and happy now.CNC machines only go through the motions.
